Registered Dietitian Nutritionist,
Licensed Dietitian, and
Certified Specialist in Obesity Weight Management in South Carolina.
Farrah Wigand founded Real for You Nutrition with a primary focus on adult weight management.
Farrah has been a practicing Registered Dietitian Nutritionist for 14 years. She started her career embracing the pathophysiology of nutrition care in the acute and critical care hospital setting. She practiced in various locations such as Chicago, Kentucky, Massachusetts, and South Carolina.
In 2011, Farrah took the opportunity to specialize in adult weight management at a Bariatric Center of Excellence in Louisville, Kentucky. This allowed her to accept and move closely to her own past personal struggle with Binge Eating Disorder and Bulimia. She was able to identify with her passion and it felt very natural in the area weight management. Focusing on this specialty has allowed her to relate to her own experience with weight bias and childhood excess weight, and actively demonstrate how to overcome it.
Farrah has counseled over a thousand adults in weight management and behavioral lifestyle change. Her fun, energetic and realistic approach to treatment and prevention is key to optimizing long term success. She believes success is achievable with a positive environment and simple accountability. Farrah’s goal is to embrace those who are challenged with disease-specific adversity, actively listen, and coach them through making behavior change.
Outside of her career, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two very active children. She also loves cooking, staying active, and socializing with friends and family.
[I recently saw] a picture of a woman eating a donut while holding a dozen with the caption "Dieting: Eating 1 donut — You 'blew it' so eat the entire dozen!" The next picture was that woman eating a donut with no extras in her hand and the words "Living: Eating 1 donut — You ate a donut and moved on with your day." I got so excited because this is a perfect example of seeing clearly what you mean by living! I'm very grateful for your teaching and coaching over the past few months and look forward to continued learning.
